Above: The Long Branch Ice Boat & Yacht Club’s “Clarel”, seen here in the early 1900s on Pleasure Bay, Long Branch, NJ. This ice boat is reported to have reached a top speed of 140 MPH in 1908. A speed record that still stands today, albeit with skepticism.

At the same location off Shallow Point in 1947, the pre-cursor to our “Thunder on the Shrewsbury,” and our annual boat show which features Jersey Speed Skiffs in action.  For more historic photos, click here.  Or to read more about our history, click here.
